Day One is in the Books

Well, we made it through the first day. It is not much to be proud of, Day One of this trip is probably one of the easiest and most laid back. But it was a good start to the trip.

Megin started the day with a couple of spa treatments as a birthday gift. Josh started the day being reminded, yet again, that Megin's full time job of taking care of 5 fun and crazy kids, is much harder than his is. Josh got the great idea of taking the kids for a "Quick Run" on the Disneyland Railroad while Megin was at the Spa. 2 hours, one train ride, one ride on Small World, and one screaming (from hunger) Lily, he realized that nothing is quick with these 5. Tyler and Alex are both a big help though, and it was fun.

The sun drove us into the pool today. Jonah tried to swim, at least he got in the water this time. The big boys had fun on the slide. We are still trying to figure out nap times and feeding schedules for Lily, so she is a little cranky, but overall it was better today than yesterday. We ate tonight at the Storyteller's Cafe, one of our favorite places at the Resort. Alex, Grace, and Jonah all got to "make" their own pizzas, while Tyler opted for the more adult Buffet.

Tonight was also our Trick or Treat event in California Adventure. This is our third time, and it gets more and more crowded every year. There was tons of candy, though, and the kids got on all the rides that they wanted. For Alex, that meant California Screamer and Tower of Terror. Grace also got her first ride on Soarin' Over California. If you ask her, she will tell you that at first it "freaked me out, but then I liked it."

Tomorrow is a long day. We will be braving Disneyland with UEA crowds from Utah and lots of families from Arizona also. They are on their fall break as well. We are going to take it easy in the morning and have instructed all the kids to sleep in. We'll see if it happens. We are doing Fantasmic tomorrow night, so we are hoping for a little sleep in the AM.
