Day Five: Late to Post

This post is a day late. I am sure that many out there are wildly disappointed that there was not a new post from us last night, to those I say I am sorry. Yesterday had some distractions from home and I just didn't get to it. I will try to do better.

This blog thing has been an interesting process. I guess it is a modern way to make sure we are journaling. Hopefully we have more memories of this trip than we usually do.

Tuesday signaled the end of the trip for some in our group. This trip coincided to several trips that all of Megin's sisters took. Her mother Tracy flew in with us on Thursday and is leaving on Wednesday to go home. It was great to have her here. Sarah and her family flew in on Saturday and are leaving on Wednesday. Gerri and her family are on the same schedule. Sharlotte flew in with them, spent a couple of days with us and then went to LA to visit a friend and her new baby. Dauci is flew in with us and will be flying home with us on Saturday and Jocalyn and her husband live in California and spent the week with us. They are leaving for home tonight. It was nice to have them all with us at times in the parks. It is easy to forget how difficult it can be to move large groups of people around. Fortunately the parks are small enough (compared to Florida's parks) and the crowds have been light enough that we have gotten just about everything done, even with a bog group. We will miss them when they go and had a good time with everyone.

Yesterday was a California Adventure day. Tyler got drenched on Grizzly River Rapids, Alex finally got to ask Crush his question (he has been trying for a couple of years), Grace got denied on Grizzly River Rapids, but did get on Tower of Terror (she will try it again when she is 5, she says she won't be scared then), Jonah danced to the Candy Tunes, and Lily had her best day yet.

We can feel this trip starting to wind down. This is our least favorite time in the trip. Today may be a little melancholy, and then we make the most of the last two days in the Park on Thursday and Friday. It will be good to be home again, but it has been great to talk with, and get to know our children even better. As they continue to get older it gets harder to hold onto them and be aware of what they are doing. Time spent in lines and waiting for shows and parades are opportunities for us as parents to ask and then really listen to what is happening in their lives and what is important to them. Even with all the challenges of life, it is nice to be able to be with and communicate with our children.

  1. Quite the group there. How long were you at Rain Forest Cafe? What great memories you are creating.

Am bit jealous. Look forward to making memories in the future.
