First Day in Chicago

No matter where we travel, or how far, that first day of traveling always seems tough. Even without the five traveling trolls with us, it is still a long day. But we are here and glad to be here. The flight was short and uneventful. No sick kids, no long delays, we both even got in a nap. In fact, we don't remember even seeing on kids on this flight. With our usual travel patterns, this is a first for us.
As we landed in to O'Hare, we were struck by the immense size of the city and it's surrounding suburbs. We were landing at about 6pm local, and the lights of the city went as a far as we could see in all directions. The dang thing just kept on going. The airport was large too. Once we landed, it took us a good 20 to 30 minutes to get our luggage collected, and then it was a shuttle ride to pick up our rental car. The hotel is about 18 miles from the airport, just south of downtown on Michigan Avenue across Grant Park. It took us an hour to drive here. Big city life comes with big city traffic, especially at 6 pm on a Friday night.
The hotel is OK, not great. It is good we are not spending much time in the room. There is a whole lot to see outside, so we will be getting to it right away. We are on our way to South Bend this morning (GO UTES), and taking an early start. The previous post was done from an iPhone, we will test it out today and see how that goes.
These pics are of Megin enjoying a pic of her hard rocking favorite duo, The Carpenters, a decent shot of our traffic fun, and us after a long, kid free day of travel.
