Strange thing happened yesterday. We drove to South Bend, Indiana, particularly The University of Notre Dame. Then, from about 2:30 pm to 6:00 pm, we have no recollection of what happened, it all feels hazy and dark. We remember watching the Utes drive for an opening game field goal, and then all is black until we were back on the Indiana Toll Road, driving as fast as is legally possible to the refuge of the Windy City. Weird right? And that is all we will say on that.
What an absolutely amazing campus. We had about 3 hours on campus to just take it all in. We got to see all the sights from the library to the chapel to the grotto. It was a beautiful, crisp fall day. The tailgating is an amazing site and the Stadium is a must for a college football fan. The University of Utah could learn a thing or two about tradition from Notre Dame; our great tradition that we brought with us was the Crazy Lady dancing. She pales in comparison to the rich tradition of the Irish. In fairness, though, she pales in comparison to pretty much anything, but nevertheless, the tradition of the University of Notre Dame was awesome.
One word about the fans and people of Notre Dame. The fans were about on the same level as the Utah fans, a good bit of lack of class, but it was pretty disheartening as a Ute fan to see our fans (who were impressive on the turn out) cheer when Utah's starting quarterback got hurt. But the employees of Notre Dame gave a lasting impression. We were welcomed over and over again to Notre Dame by their fantastic staff and volunteers. We are looking forward to a chance to come back and this time root for the Irish.
Hopefully our team will perform better today, but with the pesky Vikings in town, that could prove tough. We will see. We are about 1 mile from Soldier Field and are gonna head down about 3 hours before game time to take in all the sites of game day.
We miss the kids, but know they are well taken care of. Thanks to our family for the help with them.
